Mayela Mora, Haelly Salazar, Keyla Mendieta

KEMAHE seeks to promote adoption, sterilization and care of cats and dogs in the community of Puerto Ayora. We want to generate news programs on pet care which promotes good hygiene practices, food and good treatment, we wish to inform the community about the importance of adopting cats and dogs and sterilized to reduce the population of abandoned pets and street.

Our long-term goal to create a rescue center that allows working better with dogs, feral cats and pet care.

We will elaborate notebooks in our workshop, which will be made with recycled paper and cardboard, in each one we will put a picture and a slogan or phrase that allows raise awareness about the problems of the excessive use of pape and the impact caused by paper factories.

In the community of Puerto Ayora there are dogs and cats that have been massively reproduced affecting endemic and native species of the island. Similarly carelessness of pets generates poor appearance in the city producing diseases and unsafe spaces for residents of the community. For this reason we want to strengthen sterilization campaigns and promote care and pet adoption.

With our initiative we hope to sensitize the community of Puerto Ayora, to take responsibility and protection that their pets deserve. Similarly, it will be a contribution to reproduction control which will counteract the overpopulation of pets preventing these affect and diminish the population of native species and endemic Galapagos
